Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (Philippians 3:17 KJV)
We no longer have Paul as a walking example, but we do have the inspired words he left for us. And they pretty much say the same thing as our lesson last night – Lead, Follow, or Get Out Of The Way.
Ms. Tina gave that lesson to a combined Junior and Senior High Girls Sunday School Christmas party. It was the focal point of the evening. These girls will be the leaders of tomorrow and do need to follow and learn from those who “walk so” now, but they are also leaders to younger girls and must watch their own walk as being an example.
Or, if they will not, please get out of the way of those who are doing so, or with a little help will do so.
We also found out that some of our girls are excellent cooks. Yes, there were some frozen dishes heated through, but there were some made from scratch dishes that were delicious. There was a pasta e fagioli that carried such a wide variety of flavors, so delicious that you kept eating to get a full taste of each one. A creamy potato soup that was the ultimate in comfort food. A green bean salad whose dressing defied definition of its flavors, combining them through the marinated vegetables.
And don’t even think about the dessert table, with fresh fruit and chocolate fountain. And cake and cookies and muffins and candy and … The list goes on.
Our gift to the girls was a small, purse sized 4 x 6 photo album, with a remembrance entry for last night’s party and some shots of our Sunday School class.
Today we’ll be back at the church preparing for my granddaughter’s shower at one, then sticking around for a wedding at four. Tomorrow I’ll be teaching Sunday School, then there are two worship services, morning and evening. Come Monday, we will be picking up the van riders and their parents for a shopping trip. We will guide them a big, then get out of their way and let them choose their gift.
There is a time to be a leader. There is a time to be a follower. There is a time to get out of the way. Discerning which at what time requires a bit of studying the examples set before us. May God bless those examples, keeping them always in His will.
Quench not the Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:19 KJV)

Thank you for taking time to read and comment on the blog. Comments should take into consideration this verse: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8 KJV)
