Late last week Second Daughter texted a prayer request. It was three words: 'Pray for (first name).'
She had a variety of responses from her friends. Several returned 'Sure thing." Many made no reply. Some forwarded. A couple questioned, and asked others about the request. That reminded me of a favorite verse:
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26 KJV)
We’ve been given an example in prayer:
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matthew 6:7-13 KJV)
Paul writes a prayer in his letter To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse in which he says:
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: (Colossians 1:9-12 KJV)
In Ephesians, after telling us of the whole armor of God, Paul tells us that we should be:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, (Ephesians 6:18 KJV)
Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV)
Will you join us then in praying for Second Daughter's request and allow the Holy Spirit to intercede?

Thank you for taking time to read and comment on the blog. Comments should take into consideration this verse: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8 KJV)
