Yesterday morning I had several projects to complete at work. It was good to keep busy, even if part of it was collating a brochure that our printer kept spitting out uncollated copies, one sheet at a time. Cannot figure out what setting needs to be changed – the document itself shows that Collated is checked, the printer icon properties tell us that Collated is checked. Both of those items should cause it to work just fine.
If I were back in the corporate world with IT professionals, I’d have a wealth of possibilities. In my work office there was a veritable wealth of hardware and software expertise. In my current volunteer position, even counting the two paid staff members, I’m the best of three when it comes to expertise.
We’re lacking! But only in that department.
We’re capable, flexible and we get things done, even when we have to collate a hundred and twenty brochures by hand. The first brochures were passed out Sunday – with only a handful left. We had a schedule change, updated the softcopy and printed a bunch more today.
The brochures are important right now – they are for our Missions Conference to start October 19. We are so looking forward to this Conference. It will highlight the current list of missionaries our church is supporting. I won’t list them all here, they are available on our website.
They need our prayers and our financial support. Fortunately, these are not people who have overbought on upscale homes, but the global financial crisis will have an impact. These are people who drive used vans around to pickup supplies and children in need. These are preachers – and teachers – whose loving concern has brought them into God’s calling.
They’ve heard that Macedonian’s call from around the world, and they have responded. We, also, have been called – to do similar ministries here, and to lend them support. Not just in prayer, tithes and gifts, but in telling others. That’s a part of the Great Commission that every single one of us can accomplish.
Focus on what is in reach. Can you spare a few moments each day in prayer for a specific missionary? Can you spare a few pennies each day for a specific missionary? Can you spare what’s in your pocket at the end of each day?
Do you know a missionary? If not, meet one that your church supports. Take time to let them know you are aware of them, thinking of them, learning about their field. Take time to find out what they need, and pray specifically for that need. Send them a card, a note, an e-mail to say:
I will pray for you unto the LORD. (1 Samuel 7:5b KJV)
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 KJV)

Thank you for taking time to read and comment on the blog. Comments should take into consideration this verse: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8 KJV)
