New Birth

Within the past two months, Beloved Husband and I have both had computers “born again.” In his case, it was necessary to return to the original configuration on an existing machine. For me, a new laptop was necessary as the old one was literally falling apart.

None of our favorite programs were available to us. We were starting with a clean slate. So, what were we going to do with this new available space, this new life before us?

First, we provide protection, a good anti-virus, anti-spyware program. Something to let us know when we were attacked or used for another’s purpose.

Second, we vowed to install no junk. No stuff that sounded good, but turned out just to take up space and/or slow things down without adding to our computing experience.

Third, the software we did decide to install would enhance our life, make it easier to do things that we enjoyed, provide educational opportunities. Just generally help us.

Have we been successful? So far, (less than two months) only to a certain degree.

A couple of Hoyle games have gone on – and they are just as frustrating as before. Photos we may never look at again are filed away because they were “interesting” at the time, but had to appreciable value. Good, sturdy educational programs have gone on – and we each of our copy of e-Sword to help us with Bible study. No free MIT open courseware, which I had downloaded a year ago and never used.

So far, about average. Which brings me to the thought of our Christian lives.

Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (John 3:7 KJV)

Yep – here we go with that born-again Christian talk! Christians are given new, clean slates, just as our computers were given new, clean hard drives. The basic necessities to function are included and old temptations remain available.

New Christians are provided with the Holy Spirit to let us know when we are under attack or used for another’s purpose.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26 KJV)

The Holy Spirit has given instructions as to how to avoid installing junk in our lives.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8 KJV)

The Holy Spirit has provided instructions how to enhance our lives, bringing us joy and productivity.

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. (Romans 15:13 KJV)

Have we been successful?

Thank you for taking time to read and comment on the blog. Comments should take into consideration this verse: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8 KJV)
