Our pastor has challenged us to read through the Bible this year. Not just to be able to say that we’ve done so, but to read, question and study a book each week. There are some short enough to fit together, so we should be able to complete this by year’s end.
So, my devotionals may be a bit different this coming year. Of course, I’ll probably still jump around a bit – I have a tendency to read something in one book, note the references, check them out and jump to an even newer reference from that one. It may offer me a complete new perspective on the message I’m to hear.
With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalms 119:10-11)
That’s why I read the Bible anyway – with my whole heart have I sought Him, that I might not wander from His commandments. And I have His word in my heart, that I might not sin against Him. There is so much in the Bible that draws me closer to Him.
As a child, I memorized verses. Many not of my own choosing, but today I am so grateful that I can call upon them without even opening my Bible. His word have I hid my heart.
He has also promised me: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)
Would you be willing to take a few moments each week and read through the Bible with us?
Would you be willing to share supportive moments as we stick with this?
Thanks!!

Thank you for taking time to read and comment on the blog. Comments should take into consideration this verse: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8 KJV)
