What do you think God is like?
… thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: (Psalms 50:21b KJV)
Do we expect Him to be like us, only better? How small that is. This is the creator of the universe, who confronted Job.
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. (Job 38:4 KJV)
There are people today who can tell us about the foundations of the earth from their point of view, and it does not include God.
There are those who say the Bible is not the word of God. They say it is filled with errors and contradictions, proving it was written by men for men. Yet it says:
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 KJV)
Prophecy fulfilled sets the standard for God’s word, and it has not been proven wrong. Of course, for some it can never be proven right. We are expected to accept by faith.
Adam and Eve failed to retain their faith in God’s words, opening our lives to death. Abraham and Sarah lost faith in God’s promise of a son, leaving enmity between his descendants forever. And that’s just the first part of Genesis. We’re in pretty good company then, aren’t we, for their remaining bits of faith were used by God to further His plan.
It works out so much better when we live by faith. Paul explains sanctification to Agrippa in what Christ said to him, for him to do:
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. (Acts 26:18 KJV)
Hebrews speaks of those in the Old Testament who held to their faith, concluding.
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, (Hebrews 12:1 KJV)
With so great a cloud of witnesses, can we speak of our faith as simply as Paul?
Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: (Acts 26:19 KJV)
Why would we want to do less than be not disobedient to the God who not only created us but has plans for our lives when we accept His commandments?

Comments should take into consideration this verse: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8 KJV)
